The New York Knicks could emerge as buyers as the February trade deadline draws nearer. Right now, the team could be looking to shake things up and they are currently being linked to a highly-coveted big man that has reportedly just been placed on the trade block.
According to NBA insider Ian Begley of SNY, the Knicks could be interested in Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner, who also happens to be a rumored trade target for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers:
As the Pacers reportedly pivot to a rebuild, there are Knicks decision-makers in favor of pursuing Turner via trade this season.
Previous reports suggest that the Pacers are on the brink of blowing up their squad, and at this point, they are reportedly willing to part ways with their stars. One of them is Myles Turner, who himself has already criticized Indiana for its alleged lack of loyalty.
Mitchell Robinson has been a relatively reliable big man for the Knicks, but it's hard to deny that Turner would be a significant upgrade. The Pacers center currently leads the league in blocks and he could potentially emerge as New York's anchor on the defensive end.
It goes without saying, however, that this will not be a one-horse race for the Knicks. The Lakers are also expected to be in the mix for Turner and it would not be surprising if a few other teams from around the league also decide to get in on the action.
