Kristaps Porzingis, who was once labeled as “not ready” to take the leadership role for the New York Knicks, is motivated and is already having a fantastic season.

It all began when the Knicks facilitated a trade that sent their long-tenured star Carmelo Anthony across the States to Oklahoma City to finish his contract out with the Thunder.

Once the season began, and all of the drama swirling the organization had died down, Porzingis began working, and he has not disappointed. Not only has the big man shown improvement since his start in the league, but he remains one of the bright spots in the Big Apple that has him pegged as the team's savior.

The league is taking notice of Kristaps Porzingis' play, and even more specifically Cody Zeller of the Charlotte Hornets got the chance to see first hand why some call the Knicks star the unicorn. Not only has the Latvian embraced his nickname, but he is proving it with an exclamation point as Zeller found out when trying to force a bucket inside.

To Zeller's surprise, Kristaps Porzingis was waiting for him every time he tried to score and learned quickly, as some others have, that the defense is strong. As Zeller rose to score, the Knicks power forward rejected him not once, but three times in a matter of seconds, before finishing the first quarter with 15 points.

Knicks fans' expectations are high and they have plenty to look forward to as the 7'3″ big man has upped his scoring output from last season, averaging 30.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists prior to this game, which the Knicks won.
