The Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers are two teams on the rise in the NBA with talented young cores led by Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Ben Simmons, and Joel Embiid.

On Wednesday, these two promising young teams will go head-to-head for the first time in a highly-anticipated matchup at the Staples Center. Following practice on Tuesday, Kuzma talked about the two franchises set to face off in Los Angeles and what the future may hold for these teams.

“They have a really young core,” Kuzma said of the 76ers. “We have a young core, too. Hopefully, each of those cores grow, develop, and fight for championships. They have that opportunity and chance, too.”

Although the 76ers and Lakers do appear to be teams headed in the right direction, it remains to be seen whether these squads can develop into title contenders in the near future. Los Angeles has their sights set on bringing in two superstar-caliber players in free agency next summer while Philadelphia is hoping to build around Simmons, Embiid, and Markelle Fultz.

Despite the fact these teams may have a few years to go before they are in the title-contention conversation, Wednesday's matchup will be must-see TV for NBA fans as it could showcase a few superstars of the future.

The Lakers head into this matchup with the 76ers with a 6-8 record while coming off their first win in the last four games. Philadelphia, however, is fresh off an impressive victory over the L.A. Clippers in which Embiid and Simmons dominated Blake Griffin and company.
