Extension talks between the Los Angeles Lakers and Dennis Schroder have been an interesting topic throughout the season. While the Purple and Gold have offered Schroder an extension, the German guard gave a cryptic response to a comment on Instagram that could give fans insight on what he intends to do.

Schroder posted a picture of himself in pre-game warmups and captioned it “Always have fun with what you do.” In the comments of the picture on Instagram, a fan told Schroder to sign the extension he received from the Lakers.

Instead of letting the comment go, Schroder responded by telling the fan he doesn't have any intentions of signing anything until the summer. That could mean that Schroder is open to inking a multi-year deal with Los Angeles, but not until the offseason.

On the other hand, Schroder could be hinting at his eventual departure from the Lakers with his response. It was reported earlier this week that Los Angeles offered Schroder a four-year, $84 million extension and he turned it down.

While Schroder is a talented player, it remains to be seen if there are many teams who would give Schroder $21 million annually. Also, it is unknown if Schroder wants to prioritize winning, because if that is the case, then the Lakers give him one of the best chances of winning a title.

In his first year in Los Angeles, Dennis Schroder is giving the team a much-needed boost on the offensive end amid the injuries to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. But with the Lakers trying to remain a top seed in the Western Conference, Schroder's impending free agency is looming.
