Dennis Schroder must feel like he's in NBA purgatory as he waits to see what will happen in free agency after his season with the Los Angeles Lakers. With Russell Westbrook joining the fold, Schroder suddenly became more expendable.

In the meantime, Schroder must be hitting the refresh button on his Twitter account to monitor all the frenzied happenings in free agency. Most recently, he couldn't help but comment on the Instagram post of Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander after the youngster got paid a bunch.

Gilgeous-Alexander on Tuesday posted a photo of him on the Thunder floor gazing up:

A few moments later, Schroder posted a comment, expressing how excited he is for his former teammate, who got paid the maximum salary of $172 million for five years. SGA got the cheese!

Unfortunately for Schroder, the case hasn't been the same for him. He has already said he wants to return with the Lakers. But his rumored asking price of around $20-25 million a year is too steep for the Purple & Gold, especially after the team's shopping spree so far.

Aside from Westbrook, the Lakers have also shored up their backcourt with Kendrick Nunn and Malik Monk. So, things might not be looking too good for the feisty point guard from Germany.

Dennis Schroder, however, should easily find a new team if he gets released by the Lakers, as the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, and Dallas Mavericks have been linked to him.
