Detroit Pistons veteran point guard Derrick Rose has emerged as one of the hottest names in the market of late. The Pistons are expected to explore the possibility of trading Rose in the coming offseason, with the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly one of the teams showing interest in the 32-year-old.

For her part, Rose's wife, Alaina Anderson, has weighed in on the matter. Under her username, “alaniataughtyou”, Rose's better half commented on a recent Bleacher Report post linking her husband to the defending champs. As it appears, Alania is just laughing off the rumors (h/t David Guillermo of OpenCourt-Basketball.com):

Alaina's comment here is quite cryptic and could mean more than a few things. It would be difficult to speculate at this point, but clearly, the possibility of Rose departing Detroit in the offseason is quickly picking up steam.

Rose signed a two-year deal with the Pistons last summer, and he is now entering the final season of his contract. For the Pistons, it would make sense to trade the former MVP now as opposed to letting him walk as a free agent next summer.

Rose had another resurgent campaign last term, averaging 18.1 points (on 49.0 percent shooting), 2.4 rebounds, and 5.6 assists. He was also able to remain relatively healthy for the most part of the coronavirus-hit campaign, which is likely why his value isn't going to be as high as it is right now.

As for the Lakers, they could sure use a guy like Rose on their squad next season. He may no longer be the All-Star he once was, but Rose can still bring a lot to the table for the defending champs.
