The Cleveland Cavaliers hosted LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night. The Cavs took this as an opportunity to honor the late, great Lakers legend Kobe Bryant on the eve of his death anniversary.

The Cavs showed a tribute video honoring the Black Mamba prior to tip-off (h/t ClutchPoints on Twitter):

It's been a year since one of the greatest ever passed away in a tragic helicopter crash. So much has transpired since that fateful day, but after seeing this moving tribute, it all of a sudden feels like Kobe was taken away from us just yesterday. Kudos to the Cavs for this endearing gesture, which features some of Bryant's most memorable moments involving the Cavaliers.

As for LeBron, Tuesday's matchup is not the first time he's returning to his former stomping ground since making the move to Hollywood in 2018. Nevertheless, it's still an emotional moment for James, who has an opportunity to play in his beloved home town again. This is something that doesn't get old, regardless of the fact that they play inside a crowdless arena. The pre-game Kobe tribute only adds to the emotions entering the matchup.

The Lakers come into Monday's contest following consecutive wins against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Chicago Bulls. LeBron and Co. are in the midst of a seven-game road trip which will commence with a back-to-back set against the Philadelphia 76ers and the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
