Kyle Kuzma, the 27th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, had a lofty ambition going into his first year as a pro.

Kuzma posted a photo on his Instagram account. It features him holding up a photo of him with “All-Rookie Team” written on it:

It turns out that he wrote the caption eight months before. It signified his goal entering his rookie season. And Kuzma, after an impressive stint with the Lakers, achieved his goal.

He was named into the NBA All-Rookie First team along with Lauri Markkanen of the Chicago Bulls, Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz, Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers, and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics.

After succeeding in his goal, Kuzma spoke to the media. He said that being named to the NBA All-Rookie team was rewarding:

“That’s one of my goals that I had at the beginning of the year. We wrote it down on paper at media day. Everyone had a type of goal and that was my goal. To see it come true is pretty rewarding.”

Kuzma, to recall, surprised fans with his play. Most fans and critics locked their eyes on Lonzo Ball, who was the better prospect that Kuzma.

But as the season progressed, Kuzma stood out better than Ball. He displayed a basketball of an NBA veteran, as well as versatile skills that were not expected of him.

Being named into the All-Rookie team was a pretty good goal for Kuzma. We wonder what other goals did he set for himself in the next years?
