Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James might not be overly keen on the idea of playing an All-Star Game this weekend, but he is seen as an MVP candidate for the exhibition.

James is currently the betting favorite to win All-Star Game MVP, per SportsBetting.ag. He is followed closely by Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic and Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry.

The three-time All-Star MVP previously called the league's plans for an All-Star Game a “slap in the face.” But LeBron James was the leading vote-getter and named team captain yet again, a testament to the appreciation basketball fans continue to have for the Akron native.

James' exciting brand of play certainly makes him a strong candidate to win his fourth All-Star MVP Award. SportsBetting.ag also has LeBron as the leading candidate for regular-season MVP.

The four-time league MVP continues to play at an exceptionally high level. James is averaging 25.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.8 assists while shooting close to 51 percent from the field. He has shockingly played every game, with his first absence to come Wednesday in the second leg of a back-to-back.

Unfortunately for LeBron James, the Lakers have won just three of their last nine games. The struggle has been real without Anthony Davis.

Meanwhile, All-Star center Nikola Jokic is only elevating his play for a Denver Nuggets team currently building momentum. Jokic leads the NBA in both player efficiency rating and value over replacement player. Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is also a leading candidate for a Sixers team that is currently the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Regardless, the odds are suggestive of James' aura as perhaps the best player in the game, even at the age of 36.
