With the NBA regular season just months from tip-off, NBA Live has released player ratings for their newest game.

To the surprise of almost nobody, new Los Angeles Lakers acquisition and superstar forward LeBron James has taken the top rating of all players in the game.

James beat the next closest forward, Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors, by just two points, but created decent separation from new Toronto Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard by five points.

The ranking conforms to what we have seen from other popular basketball game 2k19, who gave James a 98.  He is also the highest rated player that 2k has released from their rankings.

Vegas also agrees that James deserves a top spot. When they released MVP odds for the 2018-19 season, he once again took the top spot, narrowly beating out New Orlean's Pelicans forward Anthony Davis.

After taking second place in MVP voting and losing to James Harden in the 2017-18 season, James has even more to prove this year.

All eyes will be not only on his statistical performances but also if he can lead an extremely young, albeit talented, Lakers roster to an NBA championship.

After being dominant for several years, the storied franchise has not been in the playoffs since the 2012-13 season, where they were quickly eliminated in the first round by the San Antonio Spurs.

As evidenced by the video game ratings, everyone can agree that James is one of the top talents in the league. Now, its time to put this talent to work and turn around a franchise that constantly strives for greatness.
