Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James sent out an Instagram post on Tuesday to honor the late Nipsey Hussle. In the photo, James can be seen wearing a brilliant blue No. 23 Crenshaw jersey.

For those who may not be aware, Crenshaw is the title of a mixtape that Nipsey dropped in 2013. It featured productions from The Futuristiks, 1500 or Nothin', 9th Wonder, DJ Dahi, Mike Free, Ralo, Wizzo, Jiggy Hendrix and others. Rick Ross and Sade were among the guest artists on the release.

James is also giving a clear nod to Nipsey's 2011 album, The Marathon Continues, as well as the Southern California clothing store where the rapper was shot multiple times (Marathon Clothing).

“I know you're smiling down back at me, my G! The Marathon will always continue all around the world with me!,” James wrote in the caption of his dedication to Nipsey Hussle.

Hussle's murder was a tragic event, and it shook the hip-hop loving community. For the Lakers star, Nipsey's death was another inner-city tragedy:

“It's another tragedy in the inner-city and the urban community,” James said in an interview with CBS after Hussle's death. “It's just so unfortunate.”

Nipsey passed in tragic fashion, gunned down in the parking lot of his clothing store. However, with the help of James and others, the legacy the artist left behind will live on forever.
