Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James has made another promise. He vowed that the Purple and Gold's playoff drought ‘won't last much longer.'

On Instagram, James posted a photo of him featuring his promise to all the Lakers fans who saw the team miss the playoffs for the sixth year in a row.

The last time that the Lakers qualified for the postseason was in the 2012-2013 season. They locked the seventh seed and were swept by the San Antonio Spurs who went straight to the NBA Finals.

After that season, the Lakers organization tried whatever they can to build a team which can contend for the playoffs. They were able to get great players off the draft, but it was clear that they needed to do a bit more — they needed a superstar that would replace Kobe Bryant who was on the tail-end of his career.

Fast forward to the summer of 2018, they landed the biggest free agent of that offseason — LeBron James. Two seasons ago, James made a promise to his hometown that he'll break the 52-year championship curse. It was a promise he fulfilled in the greatest way possible: beating a 73-win Golden State Warriors team by coming back from a 3-1 Finals series deficit.

The circumstances are different right now. LeBron James, at 34-years-old, is showing a few signs of wear and tear. Meanwhile, his teammates still lack experience and the subsequent wisdom gained from it. This season proved that building a championship-caliber team is one tall order. And the Lakers have a long way to go. However, if there's one thing we learned about James' promise to Cleveland, it's that whenever he carves it in stone, he fulfills it.
