Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James knows Carmelo Anthony's struggles before he was able to come back to the NBA, which is why he is so proud and ecstatic that his good friend and brother didn't give up.

On Twitter, LeBron quote-tweeted a video of Anthony talking about his motivation to play again in the NBA no matter what. To recall, Melo was largely shunned by the league after the Houston Rockets essentially exiled him, leaving him team-less for over a year before the Portland Trail Blazers gave him a chance.

James was obviously happy for Anthony, noting that he's just glad the new Lakers forward didn't “cave in” despite the negativity and  a lot of people  losing faith he'd be able to make it back.

Carmelo Anthony's time with then Blazers was a success, as he proved that he can still contribute and do any role the team needed–even if meant coming off the bench.

In his two seasons with Portland, Anthony averaged 14.3 points and 4.6 rebounds on 2.3 minutes per game. He had also shown flashes of his elite scoring from time to time, proving that he has a lot more left in the tank than people make it to be.

Anthony signed a one-year deal with the Lakers this offseason to pair up with LeBron James and fight for his first NBA championship. The Purple and Gold previously had interest in Melo before he signed with Portland, but now, they were finally able to snag him to add a crucial piece to a battle-tested roster.
