LeBron James revealed what seemed like a bombshell after one last dance with longtime friend Dwyane Wade, as the Los Angeles Lakers took a 108-105 win over the Miami Heat, giving James that last notch in his belt. During a postgame conversation with Wade, the new Laker hinted at his potential choice to sign with the Knicks earlier this summer, but later clarified the matter.

Both players share a quick word amongst one another before taking on the media avalanche that surrounded them:

Wade: “I appreciate you letting it end here.”

James: “It was either here or at The Garden, that's it. That's the only place we can end that, man.”

Here's the clarification:

The Lakers star was apparently referring to the magnitude of the stage, not the team itself, and The Athletic's Joe Vardon reports that LeBron “never seriously considered” the Knicks in free agency. But that story has some holes, given that the only way the two could have held their final duo at Madison Square Garden would be if either of them was playing for the Knicks.

James was rumored to be looking to cap his career in a big market, as he did in a near triple-double effort to snatch bragging rights for eternity, now leading the all-time regular season series against Wade by a slim margin of 16-15.

While it could be crushing for Knicks fans to know they may have had any shot of having LeBron James don orange and blue, the reality is that the Lakers had purposely set themselves up far high in the cap space race, something the Knicks couldn't really start doing until the start of this season.
