Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James already had major hype surrounding him when he was just in high school at St. Vincent-St. Mary. In fact, in his junior year, he was dubbed as “The Chosen One.”

However, not only was James the most highly anticipated high school hoops prospect of all time, he was also the no. 1 football prospect in Ohio.

In an Instagram post, the Lakers star shared that he skipped out on football in his senior year because his boys at the basketball team vowed to beat him up if he ever stepped on a football field that season.

Everybody knows that James grew up as a multi-sport athlete. Given his superior athletic gifts, it's no surprise that James was also elite at football.

Just imagine, in another life, James instead went the football route instead of basketball. Now, there's no telling whether the Lakers forward would have found the same success had he dedicated his God-given talents to football. However, seeing as how his NBA career panned out, we're certainly more than happy that he chose basketball.

LeBron James is probably on the Mount Rushmore of most people's list of greatest players ever. With three championships, four MVP awards, and 16 trips to the All-Star game, James' on-court achievements are among the best in NBA history. He is also not done yet, as he could very well achieve more with the Lakers.

However, as much as James has accomplished on the court, he has also done so much off the court. His “Strive For Greatness” mantra has become a mindset for all LeBron followers out there.

James' biggest assist came in the form of the “I Promise School” that he built and fully funds for kids in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. Likewise, many of James' peers view him as the one that led this player empowerment era in the NBA. With James using his voice and his platform, many others have followed his lead in doing so as well.
