The Los Angeles Lakers are sitting at home watching the NBA Playoffs as spectators after an extremely disappointing season. The Russell Westbrook experiment evidently failed and there's little doubt the team will be looking to trade his hefty contract this offseason.

We know LeBron James has a huge say in the Lakers' decision-making, but according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, there was also pressure from Rich Paul and Klutch Sports to make a move for Russ last summer:

But James certainly has a strong influence on the Lakers' decision-making. Multiple sources indicate the team's front office is internally blaming pressure from Klutch Sports Group (representing both James and Davis) for Westbrook.

This is interesting, to say the least. Nevertheless, Westbrook just simply didn't fit beside Bron and AD. The Lakers certainly dealt with their fair share of injuries, but Russ struggled to consistently put up numbers. He averaged only 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per night in LA.

The Lakers have a lot of decisions to make in the coming months, with Russell Westbrook likely the number one priority. It won't be easy to get rid of him because of his massive contract, but the writing is on the wall, Russ can't thrive with LA's stars. Some major changes are about to come for this organization as they look to get back into contention in 2022-23.
