The Los Angeles Lakers may not have a high-profile draft prospect, but they still managed to secure an injection of youth from the 2022 NBA Draft.

LA selected Michigan State Spartans wing Max Christie with the 35th overall pick after swinging a deal with the Orlando Magic. Christi spoke out on joining a Lakers roster filled with future Hall-of-Famers:

“It's amazing,” Christie said to ClutchPoints' Sam DiGiovanni. “It's surreal. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony. The list goes on. A bunch of great names, a bunch of great players on the Lakers team. I think I can learn a lot and get a lot better on that organization.”

It remains to be seen just how early Max Christie will be able to contribute to the Lakers' cause given that they're once again going for the title this season. He spent just one season with the Spartans before making the jump to the NBA. He averaged 9.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game during his brief spell at East Lansing.

Right now, Christie seems more potential than polished product. But he's still a second-round pick who has some promise and could become a key contributor for LeBron James & co. once he gets his feet wet in the league.
