The Los Angeles Lakers may already be in hot water, and could potentially be forced to give up draft picks in the future should they be proven guilty of tampering with Paul George, but that could only be the tip of the iceberg for them.

While losing on a chance to sign the newly-acquired Oklahoma City Thunder forward next summer is also a repercussion that could stem from the lawsuit filed by the Indiana Pacers, Ryan Glasspiegel of The Big Lead also noted in his recent article that the Lakers could also face the same trouble for LeBron James, who they are continuously being linked to.

The current debacle could give Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert reason to believe that the Lakers may have taken the same route with his franchise player.

“Beyond that, if the Lakers tampered with Paul George, it would stand to reason that they tampered with LeBron as well. It seems much longer ago but it was just last June that Magic had to give up his ceremonial title with the Lakers because he tweeted a profound observation about how the team should target LeBron and Durant in free agency. This past week, LeBron wished Magic a happy birthday and thanked him for being “One of the few that’s always showed love from day 1.”

“LeBron doesn’t do anything on social media by accident. If the Pacers’ probe is successful, or even if it’s not, wouldn’t Dan Gilbert be the exact type of owner to follow suit with tampering charges of his own?”

Tampering is already controversial in nature, but including the talk with stars makes it an even hotter topic. It certainly draws a lot of negative reactions from the public.

It remains to be seen what the investigating team will find out, but it won’t be surprising that more reports and speculations will emerge in the coming days stemming from this issue.
