Rajon Rondo's bubble debut with the Los Angeles Lakers has been delayed again due to back spasms.

The Lakers' playmaker was initially listed as active for Game 3 against the Portland Trail Blazers, and there were high hopes he'll be able to suit up after missing the first two outings of their first-round playoffs series.

However, the Purple and Gold franchise ruled out Rondo less than an hour before tip-off of Saturday's showdown.

Rajon Rondo is yet to play in the NBA bubble after sustaining a thumb injury during the training camp in Disney World ahead of the restart. He eventually had to leave the bubble to undergo surgery.

The 34-year-old was able to rejoin the Lakers before the playoffs begin, but they didn't play him in Games 1 and 2 against the Blazers as they ease him back into the lineup.

Game 3 was the best chance for Rondo to play again, but he clearly is not yet in top condition to be able to return and perform at a high level.

The Lakers are currently tied 1-1 with the Blazers in their best-of-seven series. They dominated Game 2, 111-88, after their shocking upset in Game 1.

While the momentum is clearly on the side of LA, having Rondo back would have been huge for the team. After all, the veteran point guard is known as player who is at his best in the playoffs.

Even though he is already past his prime, Rondo can undoubtedly still contribute with his playmaking and defense, something that should lessen the burden on LeBron James.
