Reports have recently surfaced that the Los Angeles Lakers' desire to bring Carmelo Anthony into the fold this season is mutually reciprocated by the 34-year-old veteran.

NBA insider Jordan Schultz reports that Anthony considers L.A. to be one of his primary options next season, with the prospect of playing alongside long-time pal LeBron James serving as the primary motivation. Schultz went on to claim that Anthony already owns a house in Los Angeles.

After an underwhelming year in Oklahoma, the Thunder decided to move on from Anthony which also saves the franchise over $100 million.

It is undeniable that Anthony's career is on a decline, and many believe that he is done for. However, let us not forget that he is just one season removed from being the franchise player of the New York Knicks. Sure, last season was a bust, but in the year prior, Melo still put up 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.0 3-pointers per ballgame with the Knicks.

The change of scenery should also work in Anthony's favor. His game simply did not mesh with Russell Westbrook and Paul George in Oklahoma, and his attitude did little to help alleviate the situation.

However, things could be different for Anthony in L.A. Playing alongside one of his closest friends, as well as arguably the best basketball player of his generation will take most of the pressure off of his back and should drastically improve Melo's outlook.
