The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly keeping one roster spot open in case Andre Iguodala gets bought out by the Memphis Grizzlies, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

The Golden State Warriors traded Iguodala to the Grizzlies because they needed to free up cap space to land All-Star point guard D'Angelo Russell in a sign-and-trade deal with the Brooklyn Nets.

The Lakers would love to add Iguodala to their squad and are surely going to do whatever it takes to keep the 2015 Finals MVP away from the Los Angeles Clippers.

“Leaving a spot open to potentially get Andre Iguodala if he's bought out of his $17.2 million deal,” McMenamin said on SportsCenter. “We're talking about a former Finals MVP. A guy who was repped by the Lakers GM Rob Pelinka when he was an agent. And a guy who just as recently in Game 6 of the NBA Finals dropped 22 points, almost forcing a Game 7 back in Toronto.

“They feel like he could be a X-factor type of guy to add with the group they already have.”

This past season, Iguodala averaged 5.7 points and 3.2 assists for the Warriors. As he always does, though, the swingman took his game to another level in the playoffs. Iguodala put up 9.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the 2019 postseason.

Iguodala, 35, has career averages of 12.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists. He would give the Lakers an elite perimeter defender, a sound playmaker and veteran who always seems to make the right play in crunch time.
