At this point in the offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers better have a solid Plan B in the works. A blockbuster trade deal for Kyrie Irving does not seem to be on the horizon with the Brooklyn Nets playing hardball on the enigmatic star. Right now, it's becoming increasingly clear that the Lakers could fall short in their pursuit of Kyrie.
The initial wave of free agency has come and gone, and the Lakers were able to acquire a number of pieces from the pool. Most of the big names have already been taken out of the market, but there could still be some value out there for LA. Speaking to Austin Boyd of heavy.com, an anonymous Western Conference executive floated the idea of the Lakers going for ex-lottery pick Jeremy Lamb as a potential free agent target:
“The best option in free agency might be to give Jeremy Lamb a try,” the executive said. “He has had some bad years but he still has a nice shot, it just does not go in enough. He just needs to get some consistent minutes and he can be effective.”

Lamb is obviously no star, but he could actually be a noteworthy addition to the Lakers roster, especially if they get him for cheap.
The 30-year-old swingman suited up for the Sacramento Kings last season (after a mid-season trade from the Indiana Pacers), averaging 7.9 points and 3.5 rebounds in 18.9 minutes off the bench. Lamb has yet to secure a new deal with any team in the NBA, and as the anonymous executive said, LA could come knocking soon.
