Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has never been one to back down from a friendly challenge — not even from 14-year-old prospect Gabe Cupps.

James was in attendance at his son Bronny's Strive for Greatness game over the weekend. During a break in the action, Cupps, who plays on Bronny's AAU team, became involved in a memorable three-point shootout with the King.

After sinking a practice shot from beyond the arc, Cupps motioned for James to join him for a bit of friendly competition. James obliged and stood next to the young scorer.

Wearing No. 23 on his jersey, Cupps sank his first three-pointer. James quickly answered back with one of his own, and the battle was on.

With the tally tied at three apiece, Cupps hoisted another shot, but it bounced off the right rim. Knowing it was closing time, James proceeded to knock down another three, ending the shootout with a 4-3 victory.

“I got called out by my guy and in my opinion the best shooters (he can do more, too) for the Class of 2023 @gcupps23 today,” James posted on his Facebook page. “Told him about a certain switch I can hit when needed and he didn’t believe me. Well, he found out the hard way! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Still my guy, Cupps, nevertheless 😁. #repost Ballislife”

Though he's only 14 years old, Cupps is already proving to be a great player. He has solid ball-handling skills and a smooth stroke from behind the arc. He's also a willing passer, which is a trait that will take him far in the professional ranks.

James and Cupps have shared several nice moments, but this will be one to remember.
