Baller Brand, a hip-hop and basketball-inspired clothing line hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, is claiming LaVar Ball and his family stole their brand name, adding the word “Big” to it to differentiate the two, but going with the same concept.
Despite the two brands having a different logo and approach, Baller Brand has been around since 2006, while Big Baller Brand started in 2016 as Lonzo Ball started at UCLA.
The Argentinian brand seemed somewhat unaware of BBB's existence until they made their Instagram post on Thursday night, tagging as many media outlets to get eyes on this conflict.
Their style of clothing is hip-hop heavy, including a few nods or “tributes” to some NBA and USA logos, along with supporting some of the Argentina-based basketball teams like Peñarol.
Whether this accusation goes far or not, it is hard to know at the moment, given that brand name infringement can vary based on the country of origin.
While this can clearly have a case here in a United States-based court, international laws can prove to be different than in the land of sue-them-all.
