With the Lock-In tournament now in the rearview mirror, the LCS regular season for 2022 will finally be kicking off this weekend. While the preseason competition saw a mix of main rosters and Academy players, the teams nonetheless put on quite the show, going neck and neck to stake an early claim over the region. As the intended starters are now making their way to North America, overcoming visa issues and travel restrictions, the LCS is gearing up to be an entertaining watch as squads vie for the Spring trophy. Here's all the details on the LCS Spring schedule, format, and (supposed) team rosters.

LCS Spring Split 2022: Schedule, Format, Teams

When does LCS Spring start?

The 2022 LCS regular season will officially begin on Saturday, February 5, 2022. New-look Team SoloMid (TSM) will be taking on Lock-In runners-up Evil Geniuses (EG) to kick off the Spring split. Later in the day, back-to-back Lock-In champions Team Liquid will face off against defending LCS champions 100 Thieves, who had crashed out of preseason playoffs in surprising fashion during the quarterfinals series against Dignitas. DIG meanwhile will close out the first day with a match against Immortals.

Other potentially thrilling matchups are the Cloud9 against 100T games on February 26 and March 26; the clashes on February 13 and March 5 between DIG and CLG, both teams on the rise who showed promise during Lock-In; the battle of the squads with Eastern imports in C9 and TSM on February 20 and March 19; and Lock-In finalists TL versus EG on February 20 and March 12.

Teams will be competing in a double round robin over eight weeks, meaning each squad gets to face each other twice, once on either the blue or red side of the map. Following a normal weekend-only schedule, five matches will be played per day and all matchups are best-of-one. This means teams will typically play two games each week.

However, the LCS is shaking things up this season by reintroducing the concept of “Super Weeks” wherein teams have to play three games over three days from Friday to Sunday. These Super Weeks are slated on Week 4 (February 25-27) and Week 8 (March 25-27) of Spring, which also happen to be the mid-way and final points of the split—making the tension and anticipation all the more palpable as these games are likely to have standings implications.

Don't miss out on the action as the live broadcast starts at 1 pm on Saturdays, 12 pm on Sundays, and 2 pm on Super Week Fridays (all times in PT). After the regular split, the top six teams will qualify for Spring playoffs, scheduled for April 2. Just like last year, the top four teams will be seeded into a double-elimination bracket, while the fifth and sixth-placed squads battle it out in a do-or-die series in the “lower” bracket. In the end, whoever comes out on top as the LCS Spring 2022 champions garnering the right to represent North America at the Mid-Season Invitational.
