Detroit Lions fans held their breath on Monday morning when reports surfaced of cornerback CJ Gardner-Johnson having to be carted off of the field with a non-contact injury. Fortunately for Lions fans, they might be able to breathe a sigh of relief after seeing the most recent Instagram story from Gardner-Johnson, reports The Athletic's Colton Pouncy.

The Instagram story from CJ Gardner-Johnson comes after many around the Lions were fearing a serious injury that would keep him out for the season. Reports are now doing a full 360, as all indications are saying that he avoided a serious injury, which would make a lot of sense given his post.

Everyone within the Lions organization will be very thankful that they avoided a serious injury to one of their top corners right at the beginning of training camp. With all of the hype currently surrounding the Lions, this would have been a brutal blow to the start of their 2023 campaign.

The Lions are the favorites to win the NFC North this season after finishing last year on a hot streak and the division was completely transformed during the NFL offseason. Gardner-Johnson projects to be a key member of the Lions defense that has every intention of helping lead Detroit to a divisional title.

Little clarity is known surrounding the severity of the injury to CJ Gardner-Johnson, but at least Lions fans can assume it is not that bad for now. Still, expect the Lions to be super careful with him for the rest of training camp and well into preseason football in anticipation for a big year in Detroit.
