Ohio State Buckeyes gunslinger JT Barrett was coming under a lot of fire this week. Some, the uneducated, believed it to be time for Urban Meyer to bench the electric talent.

Those people are dopes.

Anyway, here is JT Barrett dropping a dime during Ohio State's game against UNLV on Saturday:

At the time, that was a one pass and one touchdown situation for No. 10 Ohio State senior quarterback JT Barrett. He connected with Parris Campbell on a 69-yard score on the Buckeyes’ second play from scrimmage against UNLV. Barrett made the simple throw to Campbell, who broke through one defender and was then off to the races.

This play really goes against the narrative that the QB isn't working out.

Recently, Urban Meyer was somewhat forced to address his quarterback situation at a presser.

“I see a mentally tough guy,” Meyer said of Barrett, as written by ESPN. “He’s got to play better. We’ve got to play better. We’ve got to coach better.”

As for this supposedly looming quarterback controversy, Meyer said JT Barrett has the edge over Dwayne Haskins, but isn’t against the latter getting some time on the field off the opportunity presented itself.

“Right now, it’s not even a question,” the coach said of Barrett’s edge over Haskins.

“The term ‘game ready’ is used quite often around here,” Meyer said. “Is Dwayne game ready to go help us win a game? If we feel he is, then he’ll go in the game. That opportunity has not presented itself.”

This sets up to be a big day for Barrett, who during the first quarter passed Bobby Hoying to move into second place on the program’s all-time passing yards list.Barrett could very well move past Art Schlichter and into the top spot by the end of today’s game.

So much for him being a bum.
