The Orlando Magic fell to the Los Angeles Clippers Wednesday night. At the end of the matchup in Orlando, Cole Anthony had some less than professional words for an official.

NBA Communications released a statement regarding the incident, announcing that the rookie point guard was fined $25,000 for “directing profane and derogatory remarks toward a game official.”

NBA Public Relations tweeted the news Friday afternoon.

According to the statement, President of League Operations Byron Spruell announced the fine earlier Friday.

In the 111-102 loss, the Magic rookie led his team in assists with 11. He also recorded 19 points and six rebounds before going off on the game official.

To say the very least, the Magic has had a frustrating season so far. They are 9-40 and 15th in the Eastern Conference. Anthony has been the top contributor to Orlando this season with the most points and assists per game. He averages 18 points and 5.9 assists, making the Wednesday night loss an above average night for him.

As a rookie in the league, it's common for silly mistakes to come up during a player's first year in a professional league. However, disrespecting game officials is uncalled for.

He won't miss any time due to the incident and can redeem himself in the Magic's Friday night matchup against the Detroit Pistons.
