Orlando Magic point guard DJ Augustin has been out since Jan. 15 because of bone irritation in his sore knee.

Augustin spoke to Magic reporters on Wednesday to give an update on how his recovery is going:

Augustin has appeared in 39 games for the Magic this season. He's averaging 10.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists while shooting 39.3 percent from the field, 34.6 percent from beyond the arc and 87.7 percent from the free throw line.

The Magic are 22-28 on the season. They are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings and trying to make the playoffs for the second consecutive season. For that to happen, the Magic will need Augustin back in the lineup so Markelle Fultz has a solid backup.

Augustin is making $7.25 million this season, the final year of his contract. The Los Angeles Lakers are said to be interested in Augustin, but it's unclear if the Magic want to move on from the veteran guard out of the University of Texas.

Now 32 years old, Augustin has NBA career averages of 9.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 846 games with the Charlotte Hornets, Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets and Orlando, where he has played for the past four seasons.
