Orlando Magic rookie Jalen Suggs won't need surgery for his injured right thumb. However, he will still miss some time to heal the injury.

Suggs injured his right thumb in the fourth quarter of Monday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers. After assessing the injury, the Magic announced that the 20-year-old guard will be out for an “extended period of time” because of the issue.

Fortunately, in the latest update from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Suggs will just need to rest his fractured thumb and let it heal without the need for surgery. He is now set to miss the next two weeks before the team reevaluate his condition.

Jalen Suggs is one of the top rookies of the 2021 class, and a lot of eyes are on him ever since leading Gonzaga to the NCAA Tournament Championship. He fell to the Magic at no. 5, which came as a huge surprise since a lot of people expect him to go at No. 4 behind Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green and Evan Mobley.

On the season, Suggs has been averaging 12.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists. He has been shooting horribly from deep at 25.6 percent, though he has catapulted himself in the Rookie of the Year talks with his recent play. In his past four contests–including the showdown with Philly–he averaged 14.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.0 steals.

Unfortunately, considering that he'll be out for some time, he could be forgotten in the ROY conversion unless he makes a big bang in his return.
