The Orlando Magic is on the verge of finishing the 2021-22 season with another losing campaign with a 20-58 record. Currently settling at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, the team would surely want to look forward to the next season and focus on improving in order to gain greater results moving forward.

Luckily for them, they have a handful of young pieces that are showing plenty of promise at the early stages of their careers. The team is hoping that they will be able to continue to mature and develop in order to finally elevate a Magic side that has been rebuilding for many years already.

With that said, it would also entail the front office to make room for their development by trading away veterans who are taking up room in the depth chart, given that Orlando is far from being a playoff squad at the moment. It is certain that there will be teams that will be interested to acquire a tenured player to help them in their bid for the title next season.

Let's take a look at the player that the Magic can trade in the 2022 offseason.

Magic Player Who Must Be Traded In The 2022 Offseason

Terrence Ross

After spending the first few years of his career with the Toronto Raptors, shooting guard Terrence Ross has found a home in the Orlando Magic ever since he arrived in 2016-17. He has made a name for himself in the league by being a scorer that can easily get hot on the floor. Moreover, Ross has proven that he can put up big scoring numbers for the Magic whenever they needed to.

However, a point of concern in his game is his level of consistency on a nightly basis. Ross is a player who can score 30 in one game and immediately go cold on the next. Currently, he is averaging his lowest scoring average since the 2017-18 season with 10.0 points. Ross' shooting has also dropped as he is only tallying 39.9% from the field and 29.6% from beyond the arc in 62 appearances this season.

Despite seeing a regression in his numbers, the 31-year-old is still one of the team's best players off the bench. However, by playing 23 minutes per game, he is also taking up significant time away from their other guards who should be given more opportunities to develop on the floor.

The room became even more crowded as Markelle Fultz recently made his way back to the lineup after missing significant time due to a torn ACL injury. The Magic also has other young playmakers in Cole Anthony, Jalen Suggs, and R.J. Hampton which makes Ross the odd man out in the team's backcourt rotation.

Given their current dynamic, it would make a lot of sense for the front office to trade the veteran shooting guard in the upcoming offseason. With his capabilities, Ross can definitely attract significant interest from teams who are in need of offensive production, primarily from their second unit off the bench.

In return, the Magic would most likely get multiple draft picks or even players who can contribute on a cheap contract. The said move will also free up cap space for the team since the contract of Ross is expected to have an $11.5 million cap hit for the 2022-23 season.

If the Magic can put their attention towards giving more opportunities to their young pieces then they will surely develop and mature faster as the cornerstones of this rebuilding team. This will then help Orlando get more wins and eventually climb up in the standings in the years to come.
