Seattle Mariners rookie outfielder Julio Rodriguez is a rare breed of player. During the top of the fourth inning of Monday's game against the San Diego Padres, Rodriguez belted a long home run into the left field seats, his 15th of the season. With the dinger, the rookie joined two Mariners legends in the franchise's record books. Here's what Rodriguez accomplished, per ESPN Stats and Info.

Rodriguez became the first Mariners rookie since Devin White in 1987 with at least 15 homers and 15 stolen bases before the All-Star break. He's also the fifth player in Seattle's history to accomplish the feat, joining Ken Griffey Jr. and Alex Rodriguez.

Needless to say, the Mariners have a very talented young player on their hands. The organization's former top prospect, Rodriguez has wasted no time in showing why he was so highly touted in the minors.

Coming into Monday's game, the 21-year-old owned a .821 OPS with a solid .277 batting average. It's not often that a player comes around with that combination of power and speed.

And Rodriguez is certainly following in the footsteps of two immensely talented baseball players in Griffey, who is in the Hall of Fame and A-Rod, who likely would be there if not for his involvement with performance-enhancing drugs.

Somehow the Mariners star's incredible first half effort, which has included American League Rookie of the Month honors for the second straight month in June, hasn't been enough to earn him a bid in the upcoming All-Star game.

That likely won't bother Mariners fans. They know how good J-Rod is.
