According to SportsDay's Jeffrey Cooperstein, the Mavs conditionally traded their first-round draft choice this year to the Atlanta Hawks for Luka Doncic in 2018.
Cooperstein goes into more detail regarding Dallas' draft situation.
If the Mavericks do get some help from the NBA's ping pong ball machine and get to keep their pick this year, it would once again be top-5 protected in next year's draft.
If they were to keep it again next season, the pick would be top-3 protected in 2020-21, and unprotected the following season.
