The Dallas Mavericks might have seen their playoff run end earlier than they had hoped for despite an unbelievable run by Luka Doncic. However, Dallas is still doing its part in celebrating the young All-Star guard who has led the Mavs — and is now leading Slovenia to an Olympic birth. On Tuesday, it was announced that July 6, 2021, will be Luka Doncic day.

What a gesture for Luka Doncic, who has quickly become the face of the Mavericks and — in some cases — the face of the NBA. Per the release, it says a motion was put into place to salute Doncic for becoming the youngest player in history to make the All-NBA First Team multiple times.

The city will also be celebrating Doncic's other achievements, which are aplenty after just a few seasons in the NBA. For the Mavs as a team, they are in the midst of a semi-rebuild, at least in the front office. They let Rick Carlisle and Donnie Nelson go and brought in Nico Harrison and then Jason Kidd as the new head coach. The Mavs also brought in Dirk Nowitzki in a special role.

Next season should be an important one for Dallas, and Doncic grabbed the attention of everybody in the league with his dazzling performances on the playoffs despite the Mavs coming up short. July 6, 2021, is now Luka Doncic Day, and they can celebrate him as a player and his list of accolades, which will only grow as he continues to thrive in the NBA.
