The New York Mets have finally found their next manager after an in-depth search, hiring Buck Showalter on Saturday. A veteran of the game, Showalter has already coached in NY with the Yankees and many believe he will be the right man for the job. If you're asking his former player, Manny Machado, he also knows that Showalter will have nothing but success.

Machado, who played for Showalter for seven seasons with the Baltimore Orioles, spoke out on the 65-year-old's impact on his career and basically put all Mets fans at ease in the process. Via The Athletic:

“He’s been a guy that taught players how to play the right way, how to lead the right way,” the 29-year-old Machado said. “Obviously, for the veterans, he’s always had their backs, making them be the best they can possibly be out on the field. (From) a manager’s standpoint, he was awesome, one of the greatest managers I’ve ever had the pleasure to play with. Obviously, me as a young player, I learned a lot from him. It made me the player I am today by learning and observing everything he did, how he handled everything on the baseball field.”

While Showalter's time with the Orioles came to a close in disappointing fashion in 2018, he is a three-time AL Manager of the Year and even helped the Yankees soar to the top of the American League East in 1994 before the strike prematurely ended the season. A huge reason the Mets decided Showalter was their ideal candidate is because he knows exactly what it takes to succeed in a city like the Big Apple.

After a tremendous offseason where they added the likes of Starling Marte and Max Scherzer, the Mets are set up for success in 2022. Let's just hope Major League Baseball can move past this lockout and get things started on time when spring training rolls around.
