We hate to say Metta World Peace told you so, but he told you so.

While the often-disparate Los Angeles Lakers forward made claims that a young Stephen Curry could become the NBA's Most Valuable Player, most fans and critics wrote him off like just another lunatic.

Since his words had fallen in deaf ears at the time, Mr. Peace can now commemorate his Nostradamus moment, as it's now been double-validated after back-to-back MVP campaigns.

Metta is the king of bold and disparate claims (well, maybe pre-LaVar Ball and Mark Cuban), but whatever it is he saw in Steve Curry, he was right on the money.

The night of May 8, 2013, when he first had his prediction, Curry had led the Warriors to a 100-91 win over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals. Curry had dropped 44 points in a double-overtime loss in the first game of the series.

While the prediction was about one year away from Kevin Durant‘s “You da real MVP” speech, World Peace saw something during that series that led him to believe the baby-faced sharpshooter was destined for greater things.
