Stick to sports!

Wait … what?

Michigan Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh has confirmed that Barack Obama will not be an honorary captain this year.

Why is this news? Because over the summer our khaki-loving hero said he would ask Barack Obama to serve as such at some point for this season. Jim Harbaugh, who sometimes traffic in a world where he wants Judy Judy (yes, that one) to be on the Supreme Court, confirmed the news on Monday.

“The President and the First Lady both were as gracious as they could be,” Harbaugh said in a radio interview by way of the Detroit News. “They worked very hard to try to come. They’re not going to be able to, unfortunately, make it this year.”

For what it is worth, the Michigan coach is not ruling out a future appearance by the Obama family. He only said this year. Who knows what might happen a few years down the road?

Obviously, whenever any sports personality operates even just around the realm of politics, it can be met with all kind of crazy backlash. Harbaugh, however, was not inviting our nation's last non-reality star president to make some sort of political statement. He was just being crazy uncle Jim Harbaugh.

Not that any of it would matter. As long as he continues to build the Wolverines back into the historical program it once was, but removed itself from being for a short time, he could dance around and sing karaoke with all kinds of people and no one in that bubble would care.
