Halo Infinite experienced several setbacks across its lengthy game development cycle. The developers hope to finally release the latest entry to the franchise this year. Microsoft announced a broad release window but failed to specify an actual date. Fans have been left weary with the roller coaster development cycle of the upcoming title. Microsoft announced finally announced something that has fans hoping once again.

Infinite platforms

In the latest installment of the “Inside Infinite” development blog, several of the game's developers added insight into the game's status. One key takeaway from the information dump came from the words of Game Foundation Architect Daniele Gianetti. The Halo franchise made its way to the PC platform starting in 2019 but the classic games were hardly crafted with the ports in mind. Gianetti confirmed that their team is working hard to optimize Halo Infinite for all platforms.

“For Halo Infinite, we rebuilt the engine multi-threading solution to ensure high execution efficiency across all platforms and PCs, instead of running optimally just on Xbox One. We used this new system to transition the renderer to a massively parallel multi-threaded framework to support the increased cost of all our new rendering features and achieve high graphics efficiency on PC CPUs of various sizes as well as Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One X/S hardware.”

The announcement suggests that Halo Infinite will launch on older-generation consoles.  Players lamented most of the delays in the development of Halo Infinite.  Subsequently, Fans expect nothing more than the best from the developers behind the legendary franchise. Master Chief returns to multiple platforms later this year offering only the best experience for players around the world.

The next chapter

Microsoft affirms their commitment to honor its player base's choices regarding platforms. Players everywhere suffer from developers' greedily forcing unoptimized ports. Recently, CD Projekt Red botched the older-generation release for Cyberpunk 2077. Players respond better when developers lovingly craft every port of a well-crafted game.

Undoubtedly, fans waiting for the release of Infinite will appreciate this gesture from Microsoft. Besides the platform optimization, the development blog confirmed the inclusion of a customizable control scheme for Infinite. Microsoft hopes to launch Halo Infinite sometime in Fall 2021 but there are no specific details yet. Fans hope Halo Infinite soon sees the light of day.
