After two months of the MLB season, there have been some surprises. Heading into the season, the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and San Diego Padres were pegged as favorites to win the World Series. Through the first chunk of games, not much has changed. However, the newest World Series title odds have shifted a bit, and the Chicago White Sox can sure sit back and smile.

The White Sox have moved past the Yankees as Tony LaRussa's squad has the second-best mark in the entire American League. Surprisingly enough, the Yankees are third in the AL East, behind the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays, who have somehow rattled off 16 wins in their past 17 games to take the best record in the majors.

As for the National League, the New York Mets round out the top five of World Series favorites despite their 26-20 mark, which is good for tops in the close- albeit injured– NL East. To the surprise of nobody, the Dodgers and Padres have the top two spots on the list.

The Dodgers trail the San Francisco Giants, and the Padres have been on an absolute tear as of late. So, through roughly 50 games, the favorites are basically what everybody expected.

New York and Southern California, specifically, are loving their baseball. As far as everybody else is concerned, they are gunning for those teams, and as the trade deadline approaches, there might be a multitude of moves by either side as they aim to make a run at a World Series trophy.

It will be interesting to see who takes the top spot in the MLB and brings home a World Series to their city.
