The Milwaukee Brewers take on the Minnesota Twins. Check out our MLB odds series for our Brewers Twins prediction and pick.

Jason Alexander goes to the mound for the Brewers, while Winder gets the assignment for the Twins.

Jason Alexander has a 4.75 ERA, but that number comes from a very small sample size of just 36 innings in eight appearances this season. Alexander's first four appearances delivered a 2.42 ERA. His first impression was good. However, as hitters gained more film on Alexander and were able to study him more, they were able to adjust. In Alexander's last four appearances, his ERA has climbed by more than 2.3 runs. In his most recent start on July 5 against the Cubs, he allowed six earned runs in 5 1/3 innings. Hitters seem to be figuring him out; Alexander must adjust.

Josh Winder made seven appearances in the first month and a half of the season in which he posted a 3.68 ERA. However, after a rough outing on May 17 against the A's, he went on the shelf with a shoulder injury. He returned to the Twins' rotation on June 28 and pitched six scoreless innings against the Guardians. He then pitched five innings of two-run ball on July 5 against the White Sox. He has been good in his two outings since his return from injury. The Twins hope he can maintain momentum and sharpness.

Why The Brewers Could Cover the Spread

The Brewers have been struggling of late, but a team with this level of talent is not going to stay down permanently. The Brewers still lead the National League Central and are coming off a 2021 season in which they entered October as a prime contender for the pennant and the World Series. In this matchup, they go against Josh Winder, who has pitched well since returning from injury but has ultimately pitched fewer than 12 innings. We can't really know if Winder is going to be reliable or dependable in this game. It's too early to tell what kind of pitcher he is. The Brewers could rough him up, and it wouldn't be the slightest bit surprising.

Why The Twins Could Cover the Spread

After a wild weekend in Texas against the Rangers, with a series of games producing 11 or more runs, the Twins come home with their hitters in good form against a pitcher, Jason Alexander, who does not inspire confidence. Alexander versus Winder is a mathup the Twins have to love. Given the way they have been scoring runs, they have to be confident about their ability to score six or more runs in this game.

Final Brewers-Twins Prediction & Pick

Picking the over is tempting here, given how well the Twins have been hitting and given how mediocre Alexander has been for the Brewers. Yet, the ultimate verdict here is that in an interleague game, it's hard to predict how the two teams and batting orders will react to pitchers they don't see very often during the year. This is a stay-away game, but if you insist on a pick in this Tuesday tilt, the Twins — more than the over — are the play.

Final Brewers-Twins Prediction & Pick: Twins -1.5
