The Los Angeles Angels are trying to stay in contention. Despite playing a respectable brand of baseball in recent action, it appears that Shohei Ohtani may still be traded.

“The Angels have communicated about Shohei Ohtani trade scenarios with other teams in recent days. Even as the Angels have won 6 of 8, the possibility of an Ohtani trade remains,” reports MLB Network's Jon Morosi.

The Angels are currently in third place in the American League West. They are eight games behind the first place Texas Rangers, however. Their best bet will be to try for an AL Wild Card spot. The Halos are four games out of a Wild Card spot as of this story's publication. With limited odds of making a true postseason run though, not to mention their plethora of injuries, trading Ohtani could still end up happening.

Shohei Ohtani trade?

There are plenty of fascinating storylines swirling around the MLB world prior to the upcoming 2023 deadline. None, however, will receive more attention than a potential Ohtani trade.

Shohei Ohtani is arguably the most all-around talented player to ever step on a baseball field. He's an extraordinary hitter and good pitcher as well. Ohtani also runs well for good measure and is capable of completely turning a franchise around.

The question is whether or not the Angels will receive a convincing enough trade package to agree to an Ohtani deal. Since any team that acquires him would only receive two-plus guaranteed months of Ohtani given his looming free agency, clubs may be hesitant to deal too much prospect capital away.

That said, Ohtani is a generational talent and some teams may take a chance. Regardless of what ultimately occurs, the Angels are at least discussing Shohei Ohtani trade scenarios.
