After losing out on Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the New York Yankees have been searching far and wide for starting pitching help. However, Marcus Stroman appears to be one pitcher the Yankees have no interest in.

Stroman has expressed a strong interest in joining the Yankees. However, New York has declined to make an offer, via Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

There isn't exact word as to why the Yankees are reluctant to pursue Stroman. It could be his desired contract or maybe New York just doesn't think he would be a good fit with the team. Regardless of reason, Stroman doesn't appear likely to be wearing pinstripes in 2024.

However, whoever does end up signing Stroman will be getting a pretty talented starting pitcher. The right-hander made 27 appearances for the Chicago Cubs in 2023, earning a second-career All-Star nob. Stroman pitched to a 10-9 record with a 3.95 ERA and a 119/52 K/BB ratio.

Over his entire nine-year MLB career, Stroman has made 231 appearances. He holds a 77-76 record with a 3.65 ERA and a 1,091/376 K/BB ratio.

Still, for all his success and accolades, a deal with New York doesn't seem to be in the cards. Even after Stroman said he would like to sign with the Yankees. With players like Blake Snell in the free agent market and Dylan Cease in the trade market, New York is simply choosing to go a different route.

For Marcus Stroman, the RHP will now need to once again scour the market and find the team that fits him best. The Yankees will do the same, looking for the right pitcher to pair with Gerrit Cole atop their rotation.
