The Boston Red Sox failed to win on Opening Day, losing a 6-5 extra innings thriller to the New York Yankees. In the process, they were handed an injury scare, with star shortstop Xander Bogaerts limping down the line after hitting a go-ahead single late in the game. He eventually exited early.
Well, Red Sox fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Alex Cora gave an update on Bogaert's hamstring and sounded rather hopeful that he should return pretty quickly.

Sounds like it's basically hamstring tightness for the infielder. Bogaerts also said he expects to play on Saturday if everything feels right in the morning:

A scary sight for the Red Sox though, who will need all guns blazing in order to compete in a heavily packed AL East. If Bogaerts did miss time, it would be a huge blow on both sides of the ball, but they do have newly-acquired Trevor Story, who is a natural shortstop. However, it would leave a hole at second base.
Nonetheless, it sounds like Bogaerts dodged a bullet. The Red Sox will be looking to even up the series at one as they send Nick Pivetta to the mound on Saturday at Yankee Stadium.
