When the Chicago Cubs erased their 107 year World Series drought in 2016, it was relief pitcher Mike Montgomery who recorded the final out against the Cleveland Indians in Game 7.

The win sent the Cubs into a frenzy in Cleveland and back in Chicago the party was on.

Fast forward five years later and Montgomery has been with the Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization this season trying to work his way back to the big leagues. What he did Friday won't help.

Montgomery may have thrown his last pitch in the KBO after connecting with an umpire by throwing a rosin bag at his back. The wild scene was capped by the relief pitcher throwing his jersey onto the field after being restrained by multiple teammates.

The frustration and anger stemmed from Montgomery being warned multiple times about the 12-second pitch rule in the KBO.

At age 32, the former Cubs pitcher last pitched in the MLB in 2020 with the Kansas City Royals. He had a minor league contract offer extended his way this past offseason from the New York Yankees but opted to go the route of the KBO in hopes of landing a major league contract again.

He has struggled so far this season pitching to a 5.65 ERA with a 1-2 for the Lions. Now there's a legitimate chance his shot in the KBO is done after this mess on Friday.
