Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani received a huge honor when it was announced that he would be the cover athlete of MLB The Show 22 on Monday. Ohtani became the first Asian athlete to be on the cover of a video game of one of the four major sports in the United States. He also became the first member of the Angels to grace the MLB The Show cover. On Wednesday, Ohtani took to Instagram and reacted to being named the MLB The Show 22 cover athlete.

Angels star Shohei Ohtani reacted to being named the MLB The Show 22 cover athlete in the classiest way possible. Ohtani said it was “an honor” to be named the cover athlete, then he proceeded to thank the MLB and the fans for making it possible.

Ohtani spoke on Monday about his hopes of bringing people together using MLB The Show 22, as he wisely noted that there are people who watch baseball but don't play the video game, and vice versa. People who play the video game and watch baseball can agree on one point- there's not a single thing that Ohtani can't do on a baseball field.

The Angels star also wants his presence as the cover athlete to make him more well-known among Asian athletes who might not know him that well.

Shohei Ohtani clearly isn't taking his appointment as the cover athlete of MLB The Show 22 lightly.
