The San Diego Padres were given fantastic news after the team reinstated both Eric Hosmer and Fernando Tatis Jr. ahead of Wednesday's game versus the Colorado Rockies, according to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com.
Fernando Tatis Jr. and Eric Hosmer are back. They were activated before today's game, with John Andreoli and Tucupita Marcano optioned.

After the Padres were ravaged with COVID issues including both Hosmer and Tatis, as well as Jurickson Profan and Wil Myers, it's good news to be getting their prized, young shortstop back in the lineup. Tatis had been out since after the May 9 game against the San Francisco Giants.
While losing four of their starters and best player in Tatis, it seemed as if they would derail. However, it was the exact opposite. The Padres rattled off seven wins in eight games and have won five straight as the Padres are now tied with the Giants for the most wins in the major leagues.

Tatis has gotten off to a terrific start on the season, batting .240 with nine homers and 14 RBIs as the Padres have found a way to turn it around after their rather disappointing start to the campaign.
Manager Jayce Tingler has to be ecstatic, especially after the multitude of minor leagues they had to rely on over the past week when Tatis and Hosmer were out, not to mention Myers.
With the hopes of the Padres making a World Series swirling around, this is a breath of fresh air for the fan base and for baseball fans in general.
