Tampa Bay Rays ace starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow has been the subject of swirling trade rumors around the MLB as questions remain about his future. The Rays could opt to move Glasnow, 28, in an effort to pave the way for their younger arms. Glasnow offered a brutally honest take on his future with the Rays amid trade rumors in a recent appearance on an episode of The Chris Rose Rotation, as reported by MLB Trade Rumors.

“Your guess is as good as mine,” he replied.”I hope. I really, really hope. I didn’t get traded before the lockout, so that’s a good sign. … I think if somebody were to call the Rays and give them a really awesome deal or something, (president of baseball operations Erik Neander) is not going to be like ’no.’ He has to listen to everything. That’s just how being a GM is.

But we have a really good relationship. Time will tell, but I would much prefer to stay a Ray. It would be nice to watch everyone in the beginning of the season and how good the team is and how young everyone is and then try to weave my back in and contribute.”

Tyler Glasnow “really, really hopes” that he doesn't get traded by the Rays, despite recent rumors swirling. The righty notes that the fact that he wasn't traded before the MLB lockout is a good sign.

Glasnow, of course, is currently on the mend after undergoing Tommy John surgery, which will keep him sidelined for the entirety of the 2022 season. That certainly makes a trade more difficult, though it also clouds his future as well.

There's also the fact that Glasnow, who has struck out 13.3 batters per nine innings over his last two seasons, is one of the very best hurlers in baseball when healthy.

The Rays could opt to keep Tyler Glasnow despite all the trade rumors. Glasnow certainly knows what he wants.
