The NBA is reportedly eyeing Nov. 18 as the new date for the 2020 draft, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The NBA plans to further discuss the Nov. 18 date with the Board of Governors and general managers in meetings this week, so it could become finalized soon.

In a memo to teams, the NBA explained that pushing the draft date back from Oct. 16 allows for pre-draft preparation:

The Minnesota Timberwolves have the No. 1 pick in the 2020 draft. They are followed by the Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns to wrap up the top 10.

With this latest tidbit, it's possible the 2020-21 NBA season isn't going to start until 2021. The league needs to give players who are playing in the 2020 postseason ample amount of rest before a new campaign starts. Next season could also be in a bubble since COVID-19 is still afflicting America.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver did a great job of setting up the Walt Disney bubble, so odds are he's going to make the proper decision for next season as well.

In terms of the No. 1 pick, the Timberwolves have been heavily linked to Georgia guard Anthony Edwards. The team could also possibly trade the pick for a proven star if someone big becomes available this offseason.

Minnesota desperately needs more talent around All-Stars Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell, so everything could be on the table for the Wolves this offseason.
