Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum has praised Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Klay Thompson for returning after his apparent leg injury in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals.

McCollum took to ‘Twitter to sing praises to Thompson.

Thompson seemed to injure his knee during a fastbreak play in the third quarter of Game 6. Toronto Raptors swingman Danny Green tried to thwart Thompson's dunk attempt with 2:22 left in the third.

The 29-year-old Thompson landed hard on his left knee. He clutched it as he fell on floor, writhing in agony. Attending physicians immediately assisted Thompson while several Warriors and Raptors players showed their concern.

Thompson went to the locker room for a quick evaluation. He returned to shoot two free throws on Green's foul. He made both freebies to put the Dubs ahead, 85-80.

In the following possession, DeMarcus Cousins fouled Pascal Siakam so Thompson can return to the locker room. He has been ruled out for the remainder of Game 6. He finished with 30 points, five rebounds and two steals.

McCollum can certainly relate : he sustained a popliteus strain in a game against the San Antonio Spurs on March 16. The injury forced him to sit out the next three weeks.

In the absence of Thompson, the Warriors lacked firepower and eventually fell to the Raptors.
