Nicole Curran, the wife of Golden State Warriors majority owner Joe Lacob, has received multiple death threats since an incident with singer/actress Beyoncé took place during Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors.

Curran said she has been in tears and has resorted to disabling her Instagram account amid the death threats in hopes to make it stop, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne:

Curran, who had invited Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z to Warriors games multiple times before, said she was clueless about the “incident” until she got home and started seeing texts from friends and got to checking her social media, seeing plenty of rabid responses from the “Beyhive,” Beyoncé's dedicated stans:

Per Shelburne, Curran said she asked the couple if they wanted drinks. Beyoncé asked for water and Jay-Z asked for a vodka soda. Curran then leaned over to ask the rapper if he wanted lime with his drink of choice, since it was hard to hear at a roaring Oracle Arena, at which point cameras caught Beyoncé looking askance.

Many interpreted this as a woman flirting/talking with Jay-Z despite Beyoncé being right there, which angered her fans. Yet Curran cleared up the situation:

“There was no hostility. I was trying to be a good hostess,” Curran told Shelburne. “I’ve never experienced cyber bullying like this. I can’t believe our players go through this. That kids go through this.”

Beyoncé easily has some of the fiercest stans on social media, making it no wonder why it didn't take long before they buzzed their way to @ the owner's wife when first seeing the footage from the ABC broadcast, and clearly unfairly so.
